On Saturday 30th July 2022, we attended their pop-up event where we were invited to showcase our service and increase awareness of Mental Health and Wellbeing and how to better manage this.

Steve and Brooke took along some resources to help further encourage people to get out, socialise and increase physical activity to highlight the importance of physical exercise, nature and the outdoors on mental health.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) have reported that increasing physical activity reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety, whilst Mental Health UK have reported that those who participate in regular physical activity have a 30% lower risk of depression whilst also improving mood and reducing anger, anxiety and stress!

How can I become more active?

There are many different ways we can become more physically active to aid our mental health. This could include:

  • Walking

You could search for a local walking group

  • Cycling

  • Swimming

  • Jogging

You could try Couch to 5k or your local ParkRun

  • Tennis

  • Walking football

You can search for a local walking football group

  • Yoga

There are plenty of free online videos and apps you can follow along to

You can also come along to our own ‘Walk and Talk’ Peer Support Group – come and join us!
