We’ve heard some inspiring stories of kindness. We wanted to share this one in particular as we feel it highlights how kindness can be helpful even in the most difficult of circumstances. Thank you to the anonymous client who shared this with us:
‘Kindness happens when we show positive emotional support to others. It is often motivated by feelings of compassion, sympathy, concern or care and largely altruistic in nature’. ‘My brother died recently. He had a difficult life, complicated with illness and the need for constant support. When my parents were hurting the most, when they had to face the responsibilities that come with the death of a loved one they went above and beyond for me. The act of kindness came when they reached out and asked me if there was anything I wanted of my brothers to remember him by. The first thing that came into my head was a red power ranger he had on display proudly in his living room window and the warm, positive memories and conversation I had in his company because of that toy. My parents however didn’t just get me that power ranger. As they went through the impossible task of sorting through his possessions they thought of me and put other things aside that they thought I would like. That kindness during a time of emotional difficulty will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated.’
