Congratulations to Life Links’ volunteers Steve, Kirstie, Leah, Ela, Becky and Holly who have all completed their Level 2 OCN (Open College Network) accredited Volunteer Learning Pathway with us.
The training pathway aims to provide and enhance volunteers’ skills, knowledge and understanding to support them within their volunteering roles. To celebrate their achievements, Shannon, our Volunteer Coordinator took the volunteers out for a lovely celebratory meal which was a great opportunity for everyone to get together and appreciate their efforts and commitments throughout the course.
Reflecting on the volunteers’ achievements, Shannon said:
“It was a pleasure to deliver this course to our volunteers. All of the learners thoroughly deserve this accreditation – they each brought something different to the group dynamic and together they created a fantastic learning environment, full of peer support and encouragement for one another. Thank you to all six of the volunteers for all that you’ve done and congratulations!”
Below Leah and Ella share their experience of completing the OCN training.
Leah’s experience:
“I thoroughly enjoyed the OCN training from start to finish. It really allowed me expand my knowledge, while also challenging my own biases and beliefs. It also gave me the opportunity to work alongside other volunteers and share knowledge, experience and support. I couldn’t recommend the course enough – it was delivered to a very high standard and I really benefited from the experience.”
Ela’s experience:
“It was a pleasure to take part in the OCN training. Everyone fully engaged in the course and everyone’s ideas and points of view helped to enrich the course content. The knowledge I gained in the OCN course has helped me to better understand my role as a volunteer with Life Links and I have also been able to apply my newfound knowledge and skills to my other jobs and in my everyday life. Most importantly, the training has helped to increase my confidence and develop my teamwork skills through this course.”
