After being with us for almost a year, our volunteer Anna is leaving Leicester Lifelinks.
We thank her for all of the hard work she has dedicated to our service and wish her all the best!
This is what she had to say;
“I have recently been offered a job as a Recovery Worker at Richmond Fellowship Boston crisis house so will be leaving Leicester Life Links as Volunteer.
I completely enjoyed my time volunteering with Life Links. The atmosphere in the team is warm, friendly and every member of the team is passionate about their jobs. Moreover, I have enjoyed my time here as they have pushed me to exceed my limits, before coming here I was not the most confident of individuals, Life Links encouraged me to break from my comfort zone, something that I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated.
I think it is evident that I enjoyed volunteering with Life Links, I have volunteered over 100 hours in the space of 10 months (including during COVID-19) and I also have applied and been offered a job for the same company!
I have gained so much experience from Life Links, personally and professionally. I feel so much more confident in my interpersonal, communication and public speaking abilities by which Life Links helped me develop through continuously giving me opportunities to work shifts on the Infoline, co-facilitate psycho-education workshops and also help me develop my very own peer support group! Moreover, the experiences that Life Links have given me has made me more knowledgeable of mental ill health of which is extremely beneficial to me, especially as I want to work in mental health in the future!
Through the training I received I believe I have reached my full potential in volunteering with Life Links. Furthermore, the training I have received has been beneficial outside my volunteering role, for instance in applying for jobs in mental health.
I will miss volunteering with Life Links greatly!”
