Steve’s Experience
“I have completed 200 hours of voluntary work with Life Links! Wow, what a journey I have been on from starting as a person using the service and then becoming a volunteer.
“A year ago I was supported by Life Links and after completing my support, I decided I wanted to give something back. By December I was a registered volunteer with Life Links and my volunteering journey began! My role involves volunteering on the information line a couple of times a week, where I answer calls and speak to people who need our support, and offer options to help to improve their lives. I also facilitate a history peer group once a month in the city centre, which aims to give people the opportunity to get some fresh air, interact with like minded people and learn some interesting history along the way. I also assist with local events and co-deliver recovery education workshops.
“The team at Life Links (volunteers and staff) work as one to help people in our society, who need our support; whether that is a simple kind word or a listening ear we are here for everyone. Richmond Fellowship has changed my life massively over the last year. I am truly humbled, and proud to be able to do this role.”
